About Abhyudaya
Abhyudaya, SPJIMR’s award-winning community-based initiative, provides mentoring and holistic after-school education to bright, underserved children (Sitaras = Stars), from low-income neighbourhoods in Mumbai’s K-West ward.
The programme supports children in becoming independent while strengthening the schools and communities around them, and aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education) and 17 (Partnership for the Goals).

New Abhyudaya Centre inaugurated

Abhyudaya supported 393 Sitaras and 123 pre-Sitaras; career and livelihood programmes launched for Sitaras

Received "Innovative Practices Award" from UNGCNI

COVID welfare programme launched to support the Sitara community

Design Thinking course introduced for Sitaras

Abhyudaya Centre renovated to create classrooms and a library space; three alumni Sitaras employed at SPJIMR

Holistic curriculum
There is regular engagement through sessions held Monday to Friday, 2:30–5:30 pm, promoting a disciplined academic routine. Senior Sitaras have monthly check-ins, with some regularly using the centre for self-study.
