Aligned with the UN SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnership for the Goals), SPJIMR’s Abhyudaya is a community-based organisation that provides mentoring and holistic after-school education to bright, underserved children (Sitaras = Stars) from low-income neighbourhoods in Mumbai’s K-West ward so that they become independent individuals.
Abhyudaya also works with the local schools and the community to improve the quality of education and livelihoods. Sitaras start in class 6 (pre-Sitaras) and remain in the programme until they are employed.
Identifies underserved and talented students from government schools through rigorous screening, starting in class 6.
Mentorship by SPJIMR participants fosters empathy, leadership, and exposure for both mentors and mentees.
Sustained engagement through academic and vocational guidance via monthly check-ins.

There is regular engagement through sessions held Monday to Friday, 2:30–5:30 pm, promoting a disciplined academic routine. Senior Sitaras have monthly check-ins, with some regularly using the centre for self-study.
Abhyudaya partners with organisations aligned with our mission to deliver educational content, provide vocational training, and build organisational capacity.
We are actively engaging stakeholders beyond our Sitaras and their families to drive systemic change within the wider community, allowing more children, youth, and adults to benefit meaningfully.
