During classes 7 to 9, Vanita was encouraged to appear for competitive exams such as the Homi Bhabha, the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS), and Elementary Drawing exams, alongside her school studies. She secured a scholarship in the NMMS examination, which boosted her confidence and motivated her to aim higher.
Abhyudaya also connected her with MESCO, through which she received an interest-free loan for her engineering education.
“Abhyudaya removed a significant financial burden from my family and allowed me to focus completely on my studies without the constant stress of fees.”
The summer and winter vacation programmes, filled with engaging and creative activities, improved her communication skills, creativity, and overall personality. They helped her develop a positive mindset and a broader perspective about life.
“My mentors helped me build self-belief and clarity about my future goals. They were more like
friends than mentors. They shared their experiences and introduced me to new technologies so that I could stay updated and connected with the modern world.”
Today, Vanita works at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) as a Systems Engineer, supporting her family while building her own identity. In her role, she works extensively with Java and Spring Boot to build and maintain microservices-based applications.
“I aspire to grow into a skilled software developer and expand my expertise in Generative AI and
agent-based projects. I am particularly interested in exploring how AI-driven solutions can solve real-
world business problems and enhance system intelligence.”
Vanita actively participates in organisational events and competitions such as AI Friday hackathons and women’s cricket tournaments, which help her stay innovative, collaborative, and confident beyond her core project responsibilities.
