“As a girl from a family that had recently migrated from a village to Mumbai, continuing my education was not always easy. Relatives did not support the idea of girls studying further. Although my father wanted the best for me, there were times when family pressure influenced his decisions, and even my college education seemed uncertain.”
Abhyudaya played a significant role in changing her parents’ mindset by helping them understand the importance of education and encouraging them to support her dreams. When Alfiya shifted to English-medium education in Class 11, she realised that the Abhyudaya English classes helped her make this transition.
“One of the biggest challenges in my life came during the first year of college, when my father, the sole earning member of our family, passed away. Overnight, our lives changed completely.”
Abhyudaya stepped in and supported Alfiya by paying her first-year fees. Later, during her third semester, a relative had promised to pay her fees but backed out at the last moment. Abhyudaya supported her again, as she had demonstrated strong academic results.
“I will always remember how Ajay Dada accompanied me to college, spoke on my behalf, fought for my rights, and helped me find solutions to my problems.”
Currently, Alfiya is working as a phlebotomist at Suburban Diagnostics, where she plays an important role in ensuring quality patient care and accurate diagnostic services. Through her work, she has developed strong communication skills, empathy, patience, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Alfiya is preparing for the Common Admission Test (CAT), as she aspires to pursue higher education and build a successful career that enables her to make a positive impact on people’s lives.
“I believe that with dedication, continuous learning, and perseverance, I can achieve my aspirations while staying committed to helping others.”
